Premier engineering firm in Old Town, Alexandria is seeking an experienced technical support person for its IT department. Duties include hardware and software support for MS Windows computers, peripherals and applications. This position combines Tier 1 and 2 responsibilities and requires an enthusiastic and innovative self-starter with strong analytical and problem resolution skills along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks with minimal guidance. Strong customer service and communication skills required for this team environment. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years experience and possess or obtain A+ or equivalent certification within one year.

Required Technical Experience

  • Installation, configuration and maintenance of PC hardware and MS Windows 2000 through 7
  • Installation and applications support of MS Office applications
  • Remote desktop control and troubleshooting
  • Work order entry, tracking and management using Helpdesk software

Preferred Technical Experience

  • Application support with major Windows software (Adobe, AutoCAD, MathCAD)
  • Telephone switch programming
  • TCP/IP network basics and troubleshooting
  • Microsoft Exchange 2003
